Timothy J. Kress, AIA

Principal

Tim joined BBA in February 2014 as a Senior Associate and became Principal in 2019. He received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2002, which included a year of study in Rome. After graduation, Tim moved back to his home state of Wisconsin for two years before relocating to the Chicago area permanently. Over the next 10 years, Tim worked on a variety of project types, styles and scopes in locations throughout the United States.

Tim was born and raised in Appleton, Wisconsin. After developing a childhood love of drawing and building, he decided to become an Architect during junior high, and that resolve never wavered. While his dozen years of experience are diverse, Tim’s education at Notre Dame, focused on traditional design and construction, fostered a love of residential architecture and historical American home styles. Believing that beauty can be created in any style, his design philosophy is focused on proportion and proper detailing. His love of drawing has developed and extended into a passion for visual communication, using techniques from hand sketching to digital rendering.

Tim makes his home in the inner ring suburb of La Grange, Illinois with his wife, Kathleen and four children: Eileen, Scott, Erin and Evelyn. In the rare moments when he is not chasing them around, he enjoys a variety of sports, as well as making improvements around their 1925 home.
