Erica Blawat, AIA
Senior Associate
Erica joined the firm in October, 2004 and was promoted to Senior Associate in 2009. She received a Master of Architecture in 2002 from the University of Washington where she studied historic preservation, sustainability and hands-on construction. This degree complimented her design and theory based undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis where she graduated Summa cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in both Architecture and Psychology.
By working at both small practices and large national firms throughout the country, Erica accrued valuable architectural experience in a variety of project types, but was drawn to residential architecture.
In 2015, Erica re-joined the firm after a five year hiatus to focus on traveling with her young family. During her sabbatical, she also taught an elementary school art program. Educating young students about art and architecture has provided valuable insight into improving the home environment for families.
When not designing homes, Erica continues to explore architecture and art with creative kids through local and virtual activities and events. Erica also serves as architect on the Elmhurst Historic Preservation Commission.
