Jennifer Hense, AIA
Jen joined Burns & Beyerl Architects in 1999 after graduating from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Architecture. In 2021, in partnership with Gary Beyerl and Ed Twohey, she leads the firm now named bba Architects.
Jen is a native Hoosier, growing up about 100 miles outside of Chicago in Granger, Indiana. Proximity to Chicago, allowed for frequent trips to visit and get to know the city. While in attendance at Ball State, Jen had the opportunity to travel abroad and further develop her interest in historical architecture. After a semester of travel, Jen returned to finish her degree along with a minor in Historic Preservation. Ball State also has an integrated internship program which led her to Chicago and then upon graduation she returned to the city to begin her career.
Recently, Jen and her family relocated to Muncie, Indiana, back to their alma mater - Ball State. She makes frequent visits to Chicago to meet at the firm’s studio and visit job sites. She is looking forward to making an impact in her community through board membership and community outreach. She has served in her community as a member of the Building Board of Appeals.
Jen and her husband Kevin, also an Architect, enjoy spending time working on their own home projects and spending time with their two children. She also enjoys golf and tennis, playing volleyball and is an avid fan of podcasts.
