Monika joined BBA as a Project Architect in December 2012. She received a Bachelor of Architecture in 1988 from the University of Illinois at Chicago, with concentrated studies in the History of Art and Architecture. During her third year at UIC, Monika attended the E’cole de Architecture in Versailles, France.
Monika was born and raised on the north side of Chicago, and is a proud first generation daughter of her German parents.. She began her career in her first year of college, working for several small Chicago firms specializing primarily in custom single-family home and historic renovation. She has also worked on several school, commercial office, restaurant and religious renovation projects throughout Chicago and neighboring suburban communities, often serving as the onsite architectural representative. Monika excels at coordinating the architectural design with the various consultant designs into a built environment, which meets the Client’s desired program. When it comes to design renovation, Monika believes in enhancing the heart and soul of the existing structure, bringing it to its full potential. Monika also is the firm’s in-house CAD specialist and Production Director.
Monika and her husband reside in Arlington Heights where they raised 2 daughters, and enjoys baking, reading about history and traveling. She has participated in many community volunteer organizations, and raised funds for various school and church groups.
