Every so often, something happens in your career that feels both deeply meaningful and genuinely humbling, and being invited to contribute to New View: A Curated Visual Gallery: Twenty Magnificent Homes by Midwest Architects is certainly one of them. This beautiful new volume from Benton Buckley Books celebrates the architectural spirit of the Midwest, its quiet poetry, its ingenuity, and the astonishing range of design talent shaping homes across the region. To be included among so many exceptional peers is an honor; to be asked to write the book’s foreword is something Principal Gary Beyerl will carry with tremendous gratitude.

The foreword gave Gary the chance to reflect on the ways homes shape us, often long before we ever become architects. For him, that inspiration began in the attics, basements, and hallways of his grandparents’ homes, places filled with mystery, discovery, warmth, and the kind of small, unforgettable moments that architecture can hold and elevate. As he wrote, a true home is more than its familiar rooms. It is a living framework for memory: for everyday rituals, for milestones, for gatherings big and small. This book beautifully captures that idea across twenty distinct projects, each shaped by the lives and experiences of the people who inhabit them.

We are proud that among those featured works is our English Golf Estate, a residence defined by understated elegance, natural materials, and a seamless connection to its landscape. With its generous windows, warm custom millwork, thoughtfully layered spaces, and outdoor areas that flow effortlessly from the interior, the home reflects both the clients’ vision and the spirit of timeless comfort. It is a privilege to see this project included alongside so many remarkable designs.

If you love architecture, design, or simply the ways that homes become part of our personal stories, New View is well worth spending time with. The photography is stunning, the perspectives are wide-ranging, and the featured projects offer a generous look at the creativity shaping the heartland’s architectural landscape.

We are truly grateful to Benton Buckley Books for including our work and for inviting Gary to help introduce this collection. We hope you will explore the book, discover its many beautiful ideas, and maybe even find some inspiration for the spaces you call home.
