2024 Summer Project Tours

For a late summer office outing, the BBA team spent an afternoon touring a completed custom-designed new residence and two under-construction renovations in the city.

The group first visited the beautiful Modern Craftsman new-construction home. This custom-designed residence showcases a variety of exterior and interior architectural details throughout. The home’s finely-detailed interior features over seven miles of interior trim as well as several innovative built-in features, making the #bbaModernCraftsman an ideal location to fully appreciate the architectural design process required to achieve a high level of cohesive design.

Continuing our tour of #bbaCityHomes, the BBA group visited the Modern Makeover construction site. Originally built in the 1890s as a 4-unit dwelling, this forgotten gem is undergoing a meticulous renovation into a contemporary single-family home. This in-depth renovation project began with working through the challenges of an irregular city lot size, the need for underpinning foundations, and restructuring the gutted balloon frame shell. The newly reconfigured floor plan of the #bbaModernMakeover centers on the kitchen and staircase, flowing seamlessly out into the large side yard and up to the roof deck of the new addition.

To complete the afternoon of project tours, the team viewed the on-going renovation of the Greystone Revival. To preserve the architectural integrity of this historic greystone, the existing facade and significant original interior features will be restored.  Blending the rich history of the of the #bbaGreystoneRevival with modern functionality, the grand front rooms will be restored to their former glory, with modern systems for enhanced comfort, while a new rear addition will replace the previous inharmonious renovations of the past to create seamless floor plans for contemporary living.
